What are the typical reasons people have films made?

To gather and preserve family histories.
To celebrate landmark birthdays.
To celebrate special anniversaries.
To capture your loved ones, young or old, at a particular time in their lives.

Where are the interviews done?

Usually clients are interviewed and videotaped in their homes. Alternative locations can be arranged.

 

How long should I allow for the interview?

Interviews are done in one day.  In addition to the interview time, there is time spent on setting up and taking down equipment.  Typically the process takes between 3-4 hours.

 

How many photos are needed and who scans them?

 Up to 100 photos are included in the price.  All photos are scanned and cropped by Bluedot. All photos are then returned to the client.

 

How long are the movies?

Films vary in length.  Typically they run between 45 and 90 minutes long.
All films have chapters, so they may be enjoyed as individual chapters or in their entirety.
Shorter films can be made for screenings at celebrations.  These films usually run between 10-15 minutes in length.

 

Music.

The client provides Bluedot with musical choices.
Please note: Copyright law allows us to edit a movie to any song you have legally purchased, whether it is on CD, or downloaded from a site such  as iTunes, as long as it is for your personal use.

 

What is delivered?

Each client receives one high quality, chaptered DVD in a personalized case.

 

Can I purchase additional DVDs?

Yes, additional DVDs are available at $20/DVD.

 

When can I expect delivery of my DVD?

Usually within 4-6 weeks of the interview, depending on the length and complexity of the video.

 

Use of video.

It is understood that the finished video will be used strictly for personal purposes and screenings only, and that no fees will be charged for viewing the films.

 

Couldn’t I do this myself?

Yes, with the software available today, anyone can attempt the task of making a film by themselves.  It is time consuming, and involves learning editing software, but it is possible to do. What Bluedot Film provides is the creativity, equipment, interviewing skills and knowledge needed to make a polished, professional movie.
